Some of our volunteer positions require musical knowledge, but many do not. In addition, volunteer jobs are either full time or part time and the application asks you to list your full availability during the week of camp so we can best place you in these positions. Finally, see our non-discrimination policy below for more information on gender identity and leadership roles.

We welcome individuals who self-identify as female (cis or trans*), trans*, or gender non-conforming to apply for leadership positions at camp, which include Camp Counselors, Band Coaches, Instrument Instructors, Workshop Leaders, and Lead Roadie. Job Descriptions

Camp Counselor:

No music experience necessary, Mon-Fri, 8:45-6:00
(16 persons full time per session.)

This is one of the most rewarding jobs for volunteers at Summer Camp. You will serve as a mentor for your assigned band(s) of girls, make sure they are where they need to be at all times, and attend the debrief meeting each day. Camp Counselors with musical experience may also coach campers on their instruments throughout the day and during band practice. Female (cis or trans*), trans*, or gender non-conforming folks are welcome.

Instrument Instructor:

Music experience needed, Mon-Fri, mornings
(2-3 persons in the mornings for each instrument.)

Our campers possess a varying range of age and skill level, and many have never touched a musical instrument in their lives. Now it’s time to teach them what you know. You may do some collaborative large-group teaching, as well as small-group sessions (generally 3-5 students per teacher.) You can also meet or email with your fellow instrument instructors at least once before orientation to decide on a curriculum and what style and level of experience each instructor is comfortable teaching. This position combines well with band coach or workshop leader for a full day of volunteering! We are looking for guitar, bass, vocal, and drums. Instrument instructors, although part time, must be available part time each day. Female (cis or trans*), trans*, or gender non-conforming folks are welcome.

Band Coach:

Songwriting/Instrument knowledge needed, Mon-Fri, afternoons
(16 persons in the afternoons per session.)

Band coaches are assigned one band to help prepare a song for the Showcase. You will help the girls during band selection on the first day and assist them each camp day in learning how to play as a group, both musically and interpersonally. You are welcome to make this a full time position by partnering with the Camp Counselor, however this is not required. Band coaches, although part time, must be available part time each day. Female (cis or trans*), trans*, or gender non-conforming are welcome.

Mental Health Crew:

No music experience needed, Part Time
(2 persons full time -or the equivalent- per session.)

Provide support, conflict-resolution, and crisis management for campers ages 8-17, as well as support for staff and volunteers throughout the week of camp. Mental Health Crew members will conduct check-ins with other volunteers as the week progresses. Experience with teenagers in a counseling or education environment recommended. Letters of recommendation for graduate programs etc. gladly given on your behalf after you complete a session. Female (cis or trans*), trans*, or gender non-conforming folks are welcome.

Food Crew:

No music experience needed, Part Time
(4 persons full time -or the equivalent- per session.)
Prepare breakfast and lunch for approximately 75 volunteers and an afternoon snack for approximately 70 campers. Menus and food donations are worked out by our Food Crew Leads, so Food Crew members just have to follow the Leads’ instructions. Food Crew is responsible for keeping the kitchen and prep areas clean as well as post-lunch clean up. All genders, cis or trans*, are welcome.

Camp Support Crew:

No music experience needed, Any Days, Any Times
(5 persons full time -or the equivalent- per session.)

Throughout the week, you will be called upon to help with data entry, passing out surveys, on-the-spot job coverage, take photos, and other tasks that help everyone have a great day at Summer Camp. This position requires a laptop. All genders, cis or trans*, are welcome.

Front Desk/Receptionist:

Runner:

No music experience needed, Any Days, Any Times
(1 person full time -or the equivalent- per session.)

Available to help with last minute needs, runs to the store, filling in for another volunteer, generally lending a hand as necessary. This position requires a car. This is a great opportunity for someone who doesn’t have musical experience but really wants to roll up their sleeves and help! All genders, cis or trans*, are welcome.

Nurse/Doctor:

No music experience needed, Part Time or Full Time
